Quick How-to Video for Simple Beef Sirloin Tip Steak & Rice Recipe

Blog

I’ve done beef sirloin tip steak by tenderizing and then marinating it in balsamic vinegar for a couple of hours before throwing it in the oven and roasting it. It’s sooo good.

However, I wanted to try something different with this tougher cut of meat as well.

Sirloin tip is cut from the rump. This section is lean and low in fat, which means it’s not the most tender, so it takes some care in cooking it.

This is a pretty simple recipe with just some basic ingredients that you might have already in your pantry.

Note: I would double this recipe if you want leftovers or are serving more than 4 people. I didn’t quite have enough for our family of 5.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lbs. Strandquist Family Farm beef sirloin tip steak or sirloin steak, tenderize and cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 4 Tbsp. olive oil or butter or tallow, divided

  • 1/2 cup chopped onions

  • 1/4 cup chopped green peppers, optional

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1/2- 1 cup flour, divided

  • 1-3/4 cups beef broth, divided

  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce

  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce

  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice or Jasmine Rice

Instructions:

Step One

Heat 2 Tbsp. oil or butter in a large skillet on medium heat. Add onions, green peppers, and garlic; cook and stir 5 min. or until onions are tender. Remove vegetables from the skillet.

Step Two

Toss meat with 1/2- 3/4 cup flour in a large bowl. Heat the remaining butter/oil in the same skillet. Add meat; cook 8 to 10 min. or until browned on all sides, stirring frequently.

Step Three

Add 1-1/2 cups broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper to skillet; mix well. Stir in vegetables. Bring to boil; partially cover. Simmer on low heat for 1 hour or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally.

Step Four

Meanwhile, cook rice as directed on the package.

Step Five

Mix the remaining broth and remaining flour in a small bowl until blended. Stir into meat mixture; bring to boil, stirring constantly. Simmer on medium-low heat for 2 to 3 min. or until thickened. Serve over rice and add parsley as a garnish.

Enjoy!
