One of the Hardest Decisions We ever Had to Make That Could have Broke Us

Blog

You’ve probably had to make one or two or 1,000 decisions and maybe you’re in the midst of a tough one now.

Or you’re at the other end of that decision you may be wondering if you’ve made the right one as anxiety wells up within you…

I’ve had to feel all those feelings as well.

And you might guess farming was one of the hardest decisions we had to make that could have broke us…..

Understandable, but actually, it was leaving a $60,000/yr. job in downtown Minneapolis behind back in 2017. But that decision definitely prepared us for our current stage of life…farming.

I was the breadwinner of the family, had the benefits, the 401k, etc., but was saying goodbye to the workforce entirely…. Nope, I wasn’t coming back and I wasn’t looking for a higher-paying job. With all intents and purposes, we would be crushed by that decision. Tom and I had to count the cost.

The numbers certainly didn’t work out on paper. Our bills were more than what we would bring home when I left.

Crazy, right?!

Why would we still do it?

Let me just say, it was a leap of faith.

It was a leap of faith to be a stay-at-home mom after the heartache of not being able to have more children for years and multiple chemical pregnancies due to endometriosis. If you have ever dealt with pregnancy loss or infertility, you’ll understand the depths of the pain.

Priorities shifted and through those life’s challenges, perspectives changed. Being a mother was my calling and highest priority even though it didn’t come with a paycheck.

I didn’t know how much I would have to depend on my CEO, God, and how much He would fill up my empty jars over and over and over again.

There wasn’t enough money for it to make sense, but He came through in unexpected and miraculous ways.

Has it been worth the cost? Absolutely!

And, quite honestly, I still fall short, but I have to rely on God’s grace each and every day who gave me the dream.

Life is way more interesting and exciting when you step out in faith when it seems with all intents and purposes, impossible to do so.

Something on my bucket list I knew was time to do. A leap of faith. Talk about living life intentionally.…

Doing something that seems impossible to do, but willing to do it anyway.

Was it that for you?

For me, it’s my job to cultivate and work hard for those dreams that God plants in my heart, not for my own glorification, but for the glory of God, who is ultimately the author and finisher of it all through His son Jesus.

I have to actively raise kids, raise the animals, steward what He has given us, and again, trust Him and step out in faith over and over again even when it’s hard and seems, welp, crazy.

Let me reassure you, that you’re not alone if you need to make a hard decision, wondering if something will work out, or feeling “buyer’s remorse” that hits you in the chest and you can barely breathe and/or you’re overwhelmed with thoughts of “what ifs” and if you made the right decision.

Whatever that is for you, we made it through and still taking it one day at a time.

Blessings,

Tessa
